Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous songs that dealt with sexuality and racial identities with a the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to increasing her presence in Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents from Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was in the form of trumpet. In the following years, she took up hip-hop and classical training. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. In addition, she spent some time learning Mandarin during her time in Beijing. It wasn't until after graduating that she turned her attention towards music. The track My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in 2012. The track was later included on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also included other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$1. The track that was published is directly linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her 2015 travel guide. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on an actor for a third venture. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors as well as Storks. In 2018 she was able to land her first major role in a number of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
